Let’s take the jump together!
Hey, you – Yes you. Let’s get this started. I’m ready.
Though you may still be questioning your readiness, sometimes we need to jump. Jump into something scary, unknown, and possibly downright mortifying.
The thing for you to know is that I enter each session with nonjudgment, ready to hear you, understand your unique set of circumstances, and jump with you toward a better future.
You’ve taken risks before…
Think back to another scary risk you took – a promotion, a new relationship, or having a child. Scary, right? But the reward, wow, it was so worth it. Were there unknowns? Yes. Were you hopeful? Yes.
Taking the jump will be worth it, and I commit to walking next to you on the hard days and jumping for joy on those days you meet goal after goal.
I’m excited thinking about the chance for our efforts together. And despite my excitement, people experience me as very chill; they’ve used terms like still waters run deep and tranquil.
Online therapy works – and works well.
Online therapy? I wasn’t too sure of this myself. It took a pandemic to push me out of my comfort zone. And I have to say that I have gotten a lot of positive feedback from clients.
People say, “I enjoy being in the comfort of my own home – able to come home after work, change into my comfy clothes, and sit down for some me-time.”
Others suggest, “It’s the way of the future and familiar like online classes or training events at work while also getting that 1:1 connection.”
Please know that I will hear you, and I can connect with you on an emotional level. You will feel as understood as if we were in the same room.
About ME
Oh! And what’s there to know about me?
When not helping clients, you will find me outdoors hiking our amazing local trails, hanging on the patio with my partner, walking our wonderful pups (yes, I will show pictures), or spending quality time with family on their farm.
Did I mention dogs? I will introduce you to Lou, aka White Lightning, for her ability to lick you in the face or escape the fence, and Britt, aka momma dog. You could say I have a green thumb while one of my best friends encourages me in plant hoarding.
Water is also super healing, so I swim as often as possible. I do like trying things that scare me a bit while also acting very tough, like driving a scooter in a new town while on vacation, taking on website development, and healing my hurts in therapy.
Education to prepare me to help you
I completed my B.S. in Sports Management with a minor in Psychology at Southwest Baptist University.
As I aged a bit, I felt a calling to the helping profession. I returned to school and earned a master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling through Missouri State University. I am a nationally certified counselor with the National Board for Certified Counselors (NBCC), and also a CACREP Certified Therapist.
For the past 16 years, I have been employed with the State of Missouri, working with youth and families through the Division of Youth Services. These youth are adjudicated through the court system, and commitment to this agency is the last stop before moving into the adult system.
Being able to walk alongside youth and families during such a tough and sometimes hopeless period of their life journey is deeply humbling.
I’ve worked with youth who have significant trauma histories, which sometimes lead to maladaptive behaviors, often resulting from their life experiences.
Over the last nine years, I have been serving in a specialized therapy capacity working with individuals, couples, and families. I am passionate about the work and enjoy the opportunity to be creative with problem-solving as I guide others toward wholeness.
